About this property
Beautifully renovated, spacious three bedroom, two bath house on an elevated corner lot in South Dallas, with deep historical significance: Ray Charles the Genius of Soul, born 1930 lived, practiced, and composed at this house for about three years in the mid 1950s. He married his second wife, Della Beatrice Howard, in April 1955 and moved in about a week later, staying from April 1955 to around 1958. In the living room, he practiced with his band, including saxophonist David Fathead Newman, who helped him find the house. His years there are considered a formative period where he honed the sound that made him famous, playing venues in Dallas's segregated Black entertainment scene of the era. Note that the neighborhood is a little rough, so be aware of that, but the area is rich with culture and diversity.

Dallas
The largest metro area in Texas, Dallas–Fort Worth blends corporate muscle with suburban sprawl and long-run growth. Anchored by Fortune 500 headquarters, two major airports, and sprawling master-planned communities, the region stretches from Uptown Dallas high-rises to Fort Worth’s historic Stockyards.
DFW is where finance meets freight, tech meets transportation, and new subdivisions seem to rise as quickly as new logistics hubs. It’s a metro defined by scale — in jobs, rooftops, and opportunity.
